Philip Murgor Urges IEBC to Uphold Integrity Ahead of 2027 General Election
Senior Counsel Philip Murgor has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct the 2027 General Election with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and professionalism to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
Speaking during the launch of the Pre-Election Dispute Resolution Committee ahead of the 2027 General Election, Murgor said the commission has a constitutional duty to deliver a credible election that reflects the will of the people.
He urged the IEBC to resolve disputes fairly and efficiently before polling day, noting that doing so would reduce post-election conflicts and strengthen public confidence in Kenya’s democratic institutions.
Murgor remarked that if the electoral process is managed with honesty and integrity, it would make the work of the Supreme Court much easier by minimizing presidential election petitions after the polls.
He emphasized that peaceful, free, fair, and transparent elections are essential for national unity, political stability, and the continued growth of Kenya’s democracy.
Murgor encouraged all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, civil society, and voters, to support a peaceful electoral environment and respect the rule of law throughout the election period.
