Broad-based leaders have welcomed the government’s decision to compensate victims affected by past protests, describing it as a significant milestone in promoting justice, healing, and national unity.
The leaders praised President William Ruto for supporting the compensation initiative, saying the move demonstrates a commitment to reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
They further noted that the reconciliation process was built on the agreement reached between President Ruto and former ODM leader Raila Odinga, which they said has helped reduce political tensions and foster dialogue.
According to the leaders, Kenya has set an important example on the African continent by taking steps to compensate victims affected by political unrest. They expressed hope that the initiative will strengthen public confidence in national institutions and encourage peaceful resolution of disputes.
