Sports Cabinet Secretary has confirmed steady progress in the ongoing construction and upgrading works at the Raila Odinga International Stadium, following an official inspection of the facility.
The CS expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of works, noting that all major construction activities are expected to be substantially completed by the end of July this year.
He emphasized that the project remains on schedule and aligned with Kenya’s broader preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.
He further confirmed that continuous monitoring, turf development, and landscaping works are actively ongoing at the main pitch and training grounds to ensure full compliance with Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.
According to the CS, the government is maintaining close technical engagement with CAF to guarantee compliance not only in infrastructure development but also in operational readiness, governance structures, and institutional coordination ahead of the continental tournament.
He added that the Local Organising Committee will onboard additional personnel to strengthen coordination efforts and enhance efficiency as Kenya intensifies its preparations to successfully host AFCON 2027.
