Mwaura Rallies Kenyans for Jamhuri Day as Government Showcases Kenya’s Rise as a Global Tourism & MICE Powerhouse

Government Spokesman Hon. Isaac Mwaura has called on all Kenyans to turn out in large numbers for the Jamhuri Day celebrations scheduled for tomorrow at Nyayo Stadium.
This year’s ceremony will feature the Trooping of the Colour by the Kenya Defence Forces, captivating cultural performances, and high-level entertainment. President William Ruto is expected to deliver a major national address reflecting on Kenya’s development milestones, unity, and the progress made since independence.
Mwaura emphasized that Jamhuri Day remains a powerful reminder of Kenya’s journey, self-determination, and collective responsibility in nation-building.
 “This is a moment for all Kenyans to come together, celebrate our unity, and reflect on how far we have come as a nation,” he noted.
Held under the theme “Tourism, Wildlife, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE),” the Jamhuri Day Thematic Week showcased Kenya’s bold strategy to position itself as a global tourism and MICE hub.
According to Mwaura, this year’s programme highlighted,Kenya’s strong capacity to host major international events
The importance of the MICE sector in supporting aviation, hospitality, retail, and the broader economy
The country’s growing competitiveness through enhanced event bidding systems, expanded digital infrastructure, and high-end venues such as the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC)
Kenya’s connectivity and rising hotel capacity, which are strengthening the nation’s position as a preferred business tourism destination
The week featured:
Youth mentorship sessions

Cultural and artistic performances

Fashion showcases and traditional dances

Panel discussions with industry leaders
The lighting of the KICC tower
Launch of a holiday booking desk promoting domestic tourism
The programme concluded with the release of the Kenya Wildlife Census Report and a national town hall meeting, underscoring the role of wildlife and cultural tourism in shaping Kenya’s identity and international brand.
