Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has called for decisive action against individuals allegedly sponsoring violence and intimidation, insisting that goonism can only be defeated by holding its financiers and political godfathers accountable.

Malala condemned the recent wave of unrest and insecurity witnessed in Kakamega, describing it as a threat to democracy, justice, and the rule of law.

“Violence and intimidation have no place in our society or our democracy. The recent reign of terror in Kakamega must come to an end, and peace, justice and the rule of law must prevail,” said Malala.

He urged residents, leaders, and stakeholders to unite in rejecting violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, emphasizing that lasting peace can only be achieved through collective responsibility and respect for human dignity.

Malala has invited wananchi to participate in a peaceful march aimed at promoting unity, security, and accountability, saying the event will send a strong message that citizens will not be silenced by fear or intimidation.

“A peaceful society is built not through fear, but through justice and collective responsibility. Let our voices for peace be louder than the forces of violence,” he added.

The march is expected to take place on Tuesday, bringing together residents and supporters committed to safeguarding peace and stability in Kakamega County.
