Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi has launched a sharp criticism of the United Opposition, led by opposition figures including Kalonzo Musyoka, urging them to move beyond political rhetoric and present practical economic solutions to Kenyans.
Speaking on the country’s current economic challenges, Wanjigi delivered a blunt reality check to opposition leaders, arguing that citizens are looking for credible alternatives rather than a repetition of policies that have contributed to economic hardship.
“Kenyans need real economic alternatives, not a recycled playbook of more taxes, debt, and borrowing. Be serious,” Wanjigi stated.
The businessman-turned-politician maintained that both the government and sections of the opposition have failed to offer a transformative economic agenda capable of addressing the rising cost of living, unemployment, and the growing public debt burden.
Wanjigi challenged opposition leaders to articulate clear policies on wealth creation, industrialization, job opportunities for young people, and fiscal responsibility instead of focusing solely on political alliances and electoral strategies.
According to the Safina Party leader, Kenyans are increasingly demanding leadership that prioritizes economic empowerment, accountability, and sustainable development over partisan politics.
His remarks are likely to spark debate within opposition circles as preparations for the 2027 General Election begin to gather momentum, with various political formations positioning themselves as alternatives to the current administration.
Wanjigi reiterated that the country’s future depends on leaders presenting bold and practical solutions capable of restoring economic confidence and improving the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans.
