Activist and governance champion Bonface Mwangi has been elected as the leader of the Ukweli Party following a successful National Delegates Conference held in Nairobi. Delegates from across the country gathered to participate in the democratic process, reaffirming the party’s commitment to inclusive leadership, accountability, and national transformation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking after his election, Mwangi expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence they had placed in him and emphasized that the victory belonged to all Kenyans who believe in a better future.
“This victory is not about one individual. It is about all of us who believe Kenya deserves better. We now have the opportunity to build a party that listens, that includes, and that works for every Kenyan—regardless of where they come from, what they believe, or who they voted for in the past,” said Mwangi.
He noted that the election marks the beginning of a new chapter for the party, focused on strengthening grassroots structures, nurturing principled leadership, and restoring public confidence in politics as a vehicle for service rather than self-interest.
Mwangi thanked delegates who travelled from different parts of the country to attend the conference and participate in the election process, describing their involvement as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to internal democracy and citizen-driven leadership.
“The work begins now. We must build strong structures, nurture principled leadership, and restore faith in politics as a force for public service. Thank you to every delegate who participated in this democratic process. Thank you for your trust,” he added.
The Ukweli Party has pledged to continue expanding its national presence and engaging citizens on issues affecting their daily lives as it positions itself as an alternative political movement ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Let’s build a party that works for all Kenyans. The journey to liberate our nation continues,” Mwangi concluded.
