President Ruto Hosts Gor Mahia at State House, Rewards Champions with KSh10 Million

President William Ruto today hosted Gor Mahia Football Club at State House, Nairobi, in recognition of their remarkable achievement after clinching the 2025/2026 SportPesa Premier League title and securing a historic 22nd league championship.

The Head of State congratulated the club, popularly known as K’Ogalo, for their outstanding performance, describing their success as a testament to grit, consistency, determination, discipline, and teamwork.

“This admirable achievement is a clear demonstration of the hard work and resilience that Gor Mahia has displayed season after season. The club has brought immense joy to its supporters and pride to the nation,” President Ruto said.

In recognition of the achievement, the President awarded the team KSh2 million and commended the club’s leadership, management, technical bench, and players for maintaining a winning culture both on and off the pitch.

President Ruto noted that for decades, Gor Mahia has been more than just a football club, describing it as a symbol of Kenya’s sporting identity and a source of inspiration for generations of young athletes.

“The team’s rich legacy continues to inspire young Kenyans to pursue their dreams, develop their talents, embrace teamwork, and strive for excellence and competitiveness,” he added.

As the club prepares to represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League, the President expressed confidence that Gor Mahia will carry the hopes and aspirations of the entire nation onto the continental stage.

“May this milestone mark the beginning of even greater achievements for the club and for Kenyan football. Hongera K’Ogalo,” he said.

The President also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting sports development and youth empowerment across the country through investment in modern sporting infrastructure.

He announced that the Government is on course to complete 28 new stadiums within the next year, a move aimed at expanding opportunities for young people to nurture and showcase their talents.

“We will continue investing in world-class sporting facilities across the country to ensure every young Kenyan has an opportunity to realize their dreams,” President Ruto stated.

The Government remains committed to strengthening sports as a key pillar of national development, economic empowerment, and social transformation.
