Speaking on the state of the country’s economy and governance, Gachagua stated that great nations and thriving economies are built on strategic and visionary leadership, intentional production, ethical and disciplined governance, strong institutions, industrialization, and a shared national purpose.
According to the DCP leader, these pillars form the foundation upon which prosperous societies are built, enabling sustainable economic growth, job creation, social stability, and improved standards of living for citizens.
“The Budget Estimates and Finance Bill 2026/27 do not reflect the will and aspirations of the people of Kenya. Great nations and great economies are built through strategic and visionary leadership, intentional production, ethical and disciplined leadership, institutional stability, industrialization, and a collective national purpose,” Gachagua said.
He warned that when a country lacks these critical ingredients, economic stagnation, rising unemployment, weakened institutions, and growing public frustration become inevitable.
Gachagua further argued that Kenya requires a transformative economic agenda focused on empowering farmers, supporting local industries, creating employment opportunities for the youth, strengthening public institutions, and ensuring prudent management of public resources.
The DCP leader called on policymakers to prioritize policies that promote production over consumption, encourage investment, and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. He emphasized that economic growth must be people-centered and inclusive, ensuring that ordinary Kenyans benefit from national development.
As debate on the Budget Estimates and Finance Bill 2026/27 continues, Gachagua urged leaders across the political divide to place the interests of wananchi above partisan considerations and work towards a shared vision that advances Kenya’s long-term prosperity and competitiveness.
