Hon. Mike Gumo, the incoming Westlands MP, today joined stakeholders, innovators, and technology leaders during the official launch of Nairobi’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Framework and the graduation ceremony of the city’s first cohort of AI trainers.
The landmark event marked a major step in positioning Nairobi as a leading innovation and technology hub in Africa, while equipping young people with practical digital skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving global economy.
Speaking during the launch, Hon. Mike Gumo lauded the initiative as a transformative milestone for Nairobi’s youth and the future of digital empowerment.
“This AI framework is not just about technology; it is about creating opportunities, nurturing innovation, and preparing our young people for the jobs of the future. Nairobi must lead from the front in embracing artificial intelligence responsibly and inclusively,” said Hon. Gumo.
The graduation of the first cohort of AI trainers represents a significant achievement in building local capacity and ensuring that communities across Nairobi can access quality digital literacy and AI training programs.
Hon. Gumo reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and youth empowerment in Westlands and across Nairobi.

The newly launched Nairobi AI Framework is expected to guide ethical AI adoption, innovation partnerships, digital skills development, and the integration of emerging technologies into public service delivery and economic growth.
