Prof. Eng. Peter Muchiri Honoured as Kenya Celebrates Innovation Champions at National Science Week

Prof. Eng. Peter Muchiri of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology has been recognized among the national award winners for his outstanding contribution towards advancing innovation, research and scientific excellence in Kenya.

The recognition was announced during the official closing ceremony of the week-long Science, Technology, Research and Innovation Week, an event that brought together leading scholars, researchers, innovators and policymakers from across the country.

Speaking during the event, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi emphasized the importance of research, science and innovation in shaping Kenya’s economic future and strengthening the country’s competitiveness globally.

Mudavadi noted that innovation remains central in positioning Kenya among Africa’s leading knowledge-based economies, adding that the Government is committed to supporting research institutions, innovators and scientists in developing solutions to the country’s social and economic challenges.

“Research, science, technology and innovation remain key pillars in driving Kenya’s transformation and inclusive growth,” he said.

Prof. Eng. Peter Muchiri was applauded for his dedication to promoting scientific advancement, innovation and academic excellence, with stakeholders describing the recognition as a major milestone for both the institution and the country’s research sector.

The event also highlighted the Government’s continued push to strengthen investment in science, technology and innovation through strategic partnerships, research financing and capacity building initiatives aimed at empowering the next generation of innovators.
