DEATH OF VETERAN DOCTOR UNDER INVESTIGATION
By News Desk
Authorities have launched an active investigation following the sudden death of renowned obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr. Job Obwaka, whose passing has raised questions and drawn significant public attention.
Police have confirmed the detention of a 45-year-old woman, identified as Beatrice Wangare, who was reportedly in the company of Dr. Obwaka shortly before he collapsed in Kitengela on Friday evening. She is currently assisting investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as they seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to an official report filed at Kilimani Police Station, the 83-year-old doctor—who had a known history of underlying medical conditions—collapsed while attending to personal errands. He was rushed to hospital via ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the incident, his body was transferred to Lee Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
The case has attracted heightened scrutiny within both the public and medical sectors, partly due to Dr. Obwaka’s recent legal challenges involving governance disputes at Nairobi Hospital. His long-standing reputation in the medical field has further intensified interest in the ongoing probe.
Investigators are currently working to reconstruct the doctor’s final movements and interactions, as authorities urge the public to remain calm and avoid speculation while the inquiry continues.
