Bamburi Cement Names Geoffrey Ndugwa CEO in Strategic Leadership Shif

Bamburi Cement Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Geoffrey Ndugwa as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 1, 2026. He takes over from Mohit Kapoor, who concludes his tenure after steering the company through a critical transition period.
Mr. Ndugwa, a seasoned executive within the Holcim Group, brings over 20 years of leadership experience across sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to his appointment, he served as Mergers and Acquisitions Projects Director for the Holcim Group Middle East and Africa (MEA) Region and previously held the position of CEO at Lafarge South Africa.
Announcing the appointment, Bamburi Cement Board Chairman Dr. John Simba described Mr. Ndugwa as a transformational leader with a strong track record in delivering sustainable profitability and strengthening corporate governance.
“The Board is delighted to welcome Mr. Ndugwa. He is a seasoned business leader who has successfully held several strategic roles across the continent, delivering excellent corporate results,” said Dr. Simba.
He also paid tribute to the outgoing CEO, noting that Mr. Kapoor provided steady leadership during a pivotal phase of business stabilization and transformation.
Mr. Ndugwa holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering from University of East London. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is a Chartered Marketer.
Additionally, he is a member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is a graduate of the Lafarge University/INSEAD Executive Development Programme.
Mr. Ndugwa began his career as a Structural Engineer before joining Lafarge in Uganda in 2001, where he rose through the ranks. He later served briefly at Barclays Bank as Head of Business Support before returning to Lafarge, where he held several senior leadership roles including General Manager for Marketing, Innovation, and Corporate Sales.
