“Orengo, Havi Lead Legal Firepower as ‘Baseless’ Charges Against Nairobi Hospital Directors Collapse in Court”

A high-powered legal team led by James Orengo today appeared at the Milimani Law Courts in defense of directors of Nairobi Hospital who were facing what has been termed as wholly unmerited charges.
The legal team, comprising Senior Counsels Charles Kanjama and Nelson Havi, alongside Babu Owino and other advocates, strongly challenged the basis of the prosecution, citing lack of evidence and procedural fairness.
In a dramatic turn of events, the charges against the hospital directors were formally withdrawn, marking a significant legal victory and raising serious questions about the conduct and intent of the prosecution.
Speaking after the proceedings, the lawyers emphasized the critical need for prosecutorial authority to be exercised with utmost responsibility, cautioning against the misuse of legal processes to pursue weak or unsubstantiated cases.
“This outcome is a clear vindication of the rule of law. Prosecutorial power must be exercised judiciously—anchored firmly in evidence, guided by the law, and upheld to the highest standards of fairness,” the legal team stated.
