“State vs Tuju: Leaders Rally Behind Ex-CS as KSh 2.2B Property Raid Sparks Political Storm
By New Desk
A section of political leaders and public figures have come out strongly in support of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju following the dramatic standoff surrounding his multi-billion-shilling property in Karen.
The leaders condemned what they termed as a “forceful and politically charged operation” after auctioneers, reportedly accompanied by police officers, moved to enforce a debt recovery process targeting Tuju’s KSh 2.2 billion Dari Business Park property. The incident has triggered a national debate about the use of state machinery, the independence of the judiciary, and the protection of private property rights.
According to Tuju, dozens of officers stormed the property in the early hours, forcing him out of the premises in what he described as an unlawful operation. The former Cabinet Secretary has maintained that the matter is still subject to ongoing legal processes and should not have been enforced in such a manner.
Several leaders who visited or issued statements in solidarity argued that the events surrounding the property raise serious concerns about intimidation and political persecution. They claimed that the situation appears to go beyond a commercial debt dispute and has now taken a political dimension.
Supporters of Tuju warned that if such actions can be carried out against a former senior government official, ordinary Kenyans could be even more vulnerable to abuse of power. They called for transparency in the handling of the dispute and urged authorities to respect court processes and constitutional protections.
The controversy has further intensified the already heated political atmosphere, with critics questioning whether powerful interests within government are targeting allies linked to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
As the legal battle continues, leaders backing Tuju have called for an independent review of the events surrounding the attempted takeover of the property, insisting that justice must prevail and the rule of law must be upheld.
