UDA Deploys 9,000 Tablets as 500,000 Candidates Battle for 150,000 Grassroots Positions

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced full preparedness for the Repeat Phase III Grassroots Elections scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, March 14, 2026, across eighteen counties.
Addressing the media, UDA Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan, accompanied by National Elections Board (NEB) Chairperson Anthony Mwaura and several UDA Party Directors, confirmed that the party has finalized all logistical and technological arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
The exercise will commence at 8:00 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM, taking place across 8,819 polling centers. According to the party leadership, the elections have attracted over 500,000 candidates vying for twenty (20) positions in each polling center, representing various groups including youth, women, farmers, religious leaders, professionals, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), MSMEs, and traders, alongside two members representing either gender.
Speaking during the briefing, Sen. Hassan Omar stated that the grassroots elections form a critical pillar of UDA’s strategy to strengthen its internal democratic structures and expand its political base at the community level.
To guarantee efficiency and credibility, the party has deployed 9,000 electronic voting tablets to facilitate end-to-end digital management of the elections, enabling real-time monitoring and improved transparency throughout the process.
The elections are expected to produce 150,000 grassroots officials, who will form the backbone of the party’s nationwide organizational structure.
Party officials noted that the exercise represents one of the largest grassroots political mobilization efforts in the country’s history, aimed at building a strong and inclusive political architecture driven by direct participation from members.
