Makueni County – Aspiring Makueni Woman Representative Damaris Maweu has pledged to champion the welfare of women, single mothers, and orphans across the county if elected in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a community engagement forum, Maweu emphasized that rebuilding strong families will be at the heart of her leadership, noting that families are the foundation of social and economic growth.

Maweu, who has been actively serving as an ambassador advocating for persons living with disabilities and the welfare of mothers, said her leadership will prioritize restoring hope and dignity to vulnerable groups that have long been neglected.

“Family is the key to growth. When we empower mothers and protect our children, we build a stronger society,” she said.

The aspirant outlined her agenda to revive women empowerment programs in the county, with a strong focus on economic empowerment initiatives. She promised to create more opportunities for women through the strengthening and support of Chamas, which she described as a powerful tool for financial independence and community development.

“My first priority will be to restore women empowerment in Makueni and ensure every woman has access to opportunities that can uplift her family,” Maweu stated.

She further noted that many women in Makueni have been left behind in development and called for renewed efforts to restore their confidence and participation in economic activities.

“It is time for the women of Makueni to regain their faith and take their rightful place in development,” she added.

Maweu reiterated that her vision is to bring lasting change by prioritizing women empowerment, social support programs, and sustainable development initiatives that will improve livelihoods across the county.
