MAKUENI, Kenya — September 15, 2026 — Incoming Makueni County Women Representative Damaris Maweu has signalled a new political direction for the county, promising to champion fresh ideas, inclusive leadership and a people-centred approach ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Maweu says her political agenda will focus on changing the style of leadership in Makueni and creating a new chapter centred on the aspirations and needs of ordinary residents.

She has positioned herself as part of a new generation of leaders seeking to bring renewed energy, accountability and practical solutions to the county’s development agenda.

The incoming Women Representative has also expressed support for President William Ruto’s development vision, saying she intends to work within a leadership framework that prioritises development, empowerment and improved opportunities for wananchi.

With the 2027 elections drawing closer, Maweu’s declaration is expected to add a new dimension to the political contest in Makueni as emerging leaders seek to reshape the county’s political landscape.

She urged residents to embrace leadership that puts service delivery ahead of political rhetoric, while promising to remain accessible and responsive to the people.

“Makueni is ready for a new chapter, and that chapter must be about leadership that listens, serves and delivers,” Maweu said.
