RUTO INSPECTS DHOGOYE BRIDGE PROJECT AS USENGE–BUSIA CONNECTIVITY GETS MAJOR BOOST

Usenge, Siaya County — September 15, 2026

President William Ruto, accompanied by regional leaders, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Dhogoye Bridge and its 4.3-kilometre approach roads in Usenge, Bondo Constituency.

The 200-metre bridge is expected to transform connectivity between Usenge and the wider Siaya County, Majimbo/Osieko Island and neighbouring Busia County once completed.

The project is designed to provide fishing communities and other residents with faster and more reliable access to markets, landing sites and essential services.

The improved connection is also expected to reduce transport costs, shorten travel times and open up new economic opportunities for communities that depend heavily on fishing and related businesses.

The development comes as the Government continues to prioritise infrastructure projects aimed at unlocking economic potential and improving movement of people and goods across the country.

For residents of the region, the Dhogoye Bridge represents more than a transport link—it is being positioned as a gateway to bigger markets, lower costs and expanded opportunities.
Better connectivity. Lower costs. Bigger markets. More opportunity for our people.
