The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) today officially launched an eTIMS awareness campaign in Ruai under the theme “Be Energy”, marking a significant step in strengthening tax compliance and promoting transparency in business operations.
The event brought together KRA officials, local leaders, traders, and other key stakeholders in an interactive engagement aimed at educating the public on the importance of adopting the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS).

Speaking during the launch, KRA representatives emphasized that eTIMS is a critical tool in modernizing tax administration by enabling real-time electronic invoicing, enhancing accountability, and sealing revenue leakages.
KRA officials noted that the system is designed to simplify tax compliance for businesses of all sizes while fostering a fair and transparent trading environment.“eTIMS is not just a compliance requirement; it is a transformative solution that ensures transparency, promotes fair competition, and improves service delivery to taxpayers,” officials stated.
Traders in attendance were taken through practical demonstrations on how to onboard and use the system effectively. KRA officers also addressed concerns raised by small-scale businesses, assuring them of continued technical support and sensitization programs to ease the transition.
The Authority underscored that widespread adoption of eTIMS will enhance efficiency in tax collection, ultimately boosting national revenue to support public service delivery and development initiatives.Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary in empowering traders with knowledge and tools to comply with tax regulations confidently.
The Ruai launch forms part of KRA’s broader nationwide outreach strategy aimed at deepening taxpayer education and fostering a culture of voluntary compliance across the country.
