Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Onesmus Murkomen has assured Kenyans that no development project will be halted due to security concerns, affirming the government\u2019s full commitment to safeguarding the country\u2019s strategic investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appearing before the joint Senate and National Assembly Committees on Energy, chaired by Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga and Nakuru East MP David Gikaria respectively, CS Murkomen outlined comprehensive security measures put in place ahead of the anticipated oil production in the South Lokichar Basin.The CS emphasized that robust security frameworks have already been deployed in Turkana County, particularly in oil production zones, storage facilities, and along designated crude oil transportation routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo development project in any part of Kenya will be interrupted because of security fears. We have put in place robust security measures in the oil production areas of Turkana County, including storage sites and designated crude oil transportation routes,\u201d said Murkomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the Ministry of Interior is working closely with security agencies to ensure stability in the region, adding that the project is of national importance and will significantly boost economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murkomen assured the legislators that the government is fully prepared to support the seamless implementation of the oil production project, describing it as a transformative venture that will create jobs, spur local enterprise, and accelerate development in Turkana and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe South Lokichar Basin oil project is a strategic national undertaking. We will fully support its seamless implementation to unlock economic opportunities and uplift communities in the region,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CS was accompanied by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Internal Security Principal Administrative Secretary Jacob Narengo, alongside other senior government officials, signaling a coordinated multi-agency approach to securing the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
