DIG MASENGELI: POLICE BEGIN MAPPING 2027 ELECTION HOTSPOTS<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The National Police Service (NPS) has commenced an intelligence-led mapping exercise to identify areas considered vulnerable to election-related violence ahead of the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) National Stakeholders Conference on Peace Ahead of the 2027 Elections, Administration Police Deputy Inspector General Gilbert<\/em><\/strong> Masengeli said the exercise will help the police identify potential hotspots early and strengthen preparedness.<\/p>\n
Masengeli said the NPS will maintain a strong focus on public safety while taking firm action against political violence, hooliganism and criminal gangs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cFor us as police, our main aim is to make sure the public is safe,\u201d Masengeli said, urging politicians to avoid rhetoric that could expose young people to violence for political gain.<\/p>\n
He cautioned political actors against using young people as shields and warned that sponsored violence would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are putting more focus on areas prone to election-related violence. Political hooliganism and gangs must be confronted early and decisively, as we cannot allow the disruption of meetings or destruction of property. Our approach will be lawful and intelligence-guided,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The NPS says the hotspot mapping is part of broader preparations aimed at preventing violence before it escalates and ensuring Kenyans can participate in political activities safely as the country approaches the 2027 polls.<\/p>\n
Masengeli further emphasized the need for political leaders, security agencies, communities and other stakeholders to work together to protect peace and national cohesion throughout the electoral period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
