NPA HAILS KAKAMEGA HIGH\u2019S RISING SPORTS STARS, CALLS FOR SCHOOL TO BE MADE A NATIONAL SPORTS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The National Parents Association (NPA) has congratulated five students from Kakamega High School who have earned call-ups to the Harambee Junior Stars, urging parents and the government to fully embrace CBC by nurturing learners\u2019 talents, skills and values.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The students were selected following their outstanding performances in the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA)<\/strong> competitions, highlighting the growing sporting potential within Kenya\u2019s schools.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the development, the NPA praised the students for putting their school and the country on the map, while commending Professor Aliva, Principal of Kakamega High School<\/strong>, for supporting the learners and creating an environment where talent can thrive.<\/p>\n
The association urged parents to support the full implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)<\/strong>, particularly its emphasis on identifying and developing learners\u2019 talents, practical skills and values alongside academic achievement.<\/p>\n
The Mr. Silas Obuhatsa , Chair,NPA also called on the government to provide greater support to Kakamega High School so that the students can receive opportunities that take them beyond what the Harambee Junior Stars<\/strong> platform can currently offer.<\/p>\n
The association further appealed to President William Ruto<\/strong> to recognise Kakamega High School as a national centre of excellence for sports<\/strong> and consider establishing a dedicated sports academy at the institution<\/strong> to identify, nurture and develop young Kenyan sporting talent.<\/p>\n
According to the NPA, investing in school sports infrastructure and structured talent development would give talented learners a stronger pathway from school competitions to professional and international sporting careers.<\/p>\n
The five Kakamega High School students\u2019 selection to the national junior team is being celebrated as a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when schools, parents and sports programmes work together to identify and nurture young talent.<\/p>\n

The NPA says the achievement should now serve as a catalyst for increased investment in sports, talent development and skills-based education<\/strong> across the country.<\/p>\n
