NYANZA, August 31, 2026<\/strong> \u2014 Pressure is mounting on ODM party leader Oburu Oginga<\/strong> to take a more decisive role in bringing Nyanza\u2019s political leadership together as divisions continue to emerge among leaders aligned to the opposition and the Broad-Based Government.<\/p>\n

With the 2027 General Election drawing closer, political temperatures across the region are rising, with competing interests and shifting alliances threatening to expose cracks within what has traditionally been considered a strong political bloc.<\/p>\n
Political observers say the growing rivalry among Nyanza leaders presents a major test for Oburu Oginga, who is increasingly being looked upon to provide direction, rally the region behind a common agenda and prevent internal divisions from weakening its bargaining power ahead of 2027.<\/p>\n
The debate comes at a time when both opposition forces and leaders associated with the Broad-Based Government are intensifying efforts to consolidate support across Nyanza.<\/p>\n
The key question now is whether Oburu can successfully bridge the widening political differences, bring competing camps to the negotiating table and restore a sense of unity before the 2027 political contest enters its decisive phase.<\/p>\n
