Mtumishi wa Watu\u201d Nyamwamu Proposes 3,000-Delegate Opposition Convention to Pick 2027 Nairobi Flag Bearer<\/h1>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cyprian Nyamwamu, popularly known as Mtumishi wa Watu<\/em> and an aspiring Nairobi gubernatorial candidate, has called for a transparent, structured and democratic joint nomination process among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 General Election.<\/p>\n

Nyamwamu says the opposition should avoid internal divisions and instead establish a credible mechanism through which its preferred candidate can emerge through a competitive and widely accepted process.<\/p>\n

He has proposed a joint convention bringing together 3,000 delegates in Nairobi<\/strong>, with Wiper, DAP-K, PLP, Jubilee, DCP and the #LindaMwananchi movement each contributing 500 delegates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Under the proposal, PNU would channel its delegates through Jubilee, while the Democratic Party associated with Justin Muturi would contribute its delegates through Wiper.<\/p>\n

Nyamwamu further proposes that other political parties wishing to participate should be allowed to join the process by contributing delegates through any of the six participating parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor example, if KANU decides to come back, it can contribute delegates through Jubilee, Wiper or any party of its choice,\u201d Nyamwamu said.<\/p>\n

A Lesson from the Pentagon<\/h3>\n

Nyamwamu argues that the opposition can draw lessons from the Pentagon arrangement of 2007<\/strong>, when opposition leaders came together at Kasarani and agreed on a joint political strategy.<\/p>\n

He says a similar transparent process could help build trust among competing parties and give the eventual flag bearer legitimacy across the coalition.<\/p>\n

He has urged opposition leaders to put aside personal ambitions and focus on creating a process that gives delegates and ordinary supporters confidence that the final candidate has been genuinely chosen.<\/p>\n

According to Nyamwamu, the proposed convention should be guided by clear rules, an agreed delegate structure, transparent voting procedures and acceptance of the final outcome.<\/p>\n

He believes such an arrangement could provide a stronger foundation for a united opposition campaign in Nairobi and nationally ahead of 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe question is not who wants to be the candidate, but whether we can agree on a fair process that allows the people to choose their candidate,\u201d Nyamwamu said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also posed a challenge to opposition leaders and supporters: Can the opposition repeat the spirit of Kasarani 2007 and agree on one formidable team for 2027?<\/strong><\/p>\n
