NPA Demands Justice for Flora Laura: \u201cHow Many More Children Must Die Before Kenya Acts?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The National Parents Association (NPA) has demanded swift and transparent investigations into the death of Flora Laura, a student at Moi Vikoli High School in Kakamega, saying her death must not be allowed to become another unresolved tragedy involving a Kenyan child.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The NPA expressed deep condolences to Flora\u2019s parents, family, classmates, teachers and the entire Moi Vikoli High School community, describing her death as a devastating loss to a family and a nation.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The parents\u2019 body is calling on the Government, through the National Police Service and other relevant investigative agencies, to urgently establish the circumstances surrounding Flora\u2019s death, preserve all relevant evidence, interview witnesses and keep the family informed throughout the investigation.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The NPA insists that anyone found culpable must face justice through due process.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
\u00ab\u201cThere must be no cover-up, intimidation, interference or protection of suspects because of their social status, connections or influence,\u201d the association said.\u00bb<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
NPA: CHILD SAFETY MUST COME FIRST<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The association says Flora\u2019s death has once again raised serious questions about the safety of school-going children across Kenya.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
NPA noted that children continue to face risks including road accidents, violence, bullying, sexual abuse, fires, drowning, neglect and other preventable dangers.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The association says parents should be able to send their children to school with the confidence that they will return home safely.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
\u201cSchools must be places of learning, growth, discipline and opportunity\u2014not places where children are exposed to violence, abuse, exploitation or preventable danger,\u201d NPA stated.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
STRONGER ACTION AGAINST VIOLENCE<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The NPA has also called for stronger protection of children against sexual and gender-based violence, urging parents, teachers, school administrators, religious leaders and communities to report suspected abuse immediately.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The association warned against a culture where allegations involving children are ignored, concealed or privately settled when they amount to criminal offences.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
It further urged schools to establish safe and confidential reporting mechanisms so that children can speak about threats, abuse or inappropriate conduct without fear.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
EIGHT DEMANDS TO GOVERNMENT<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The NPA wants the Government to:<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
1. Conduct a thorough investigation into Flora Laura\u2019s death and establish exactly what happened.<\/p>\n
2. Ensure justice and accountability for anyone found culpable through due process.<\/p>\n
3. Strengthen security and safeguarding systems in schools.<\/p>\n
4. Carry out regular safety inspections covering school facilities, transport, sanitation, fire preparedness and access control.<\/p>\n
5. Strengthen protection against sexual and gender-based violence through safe reporting channels.<\/p>\n
6. Improve road safety for school-going children and enforce safety standards for school transport.<\/p>\n
7. Provide psychosocial support to learners affected by violence, loss or abuse.<\/p>\n
8. Hold negligent institutions and individuals accountable where failure to observe safety procedures puts children at risk.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
\u201cFLORA LAURA MUST NOT BECOME JUST ANOTHER STATISTIC\u201d<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The NPA says Flora was more than a statistic.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
She was a daughter, a student, a friend and a young Kenyan with dreams and aspirations.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The association said her family expected to watch her grow, complete her education and build her future, but are now facing the painful reality of losing their child.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
\u201cThe death of Flora Laura must not be reduced to another tragic headline that fades from public attention,\u201d NPA said.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The association is calling on Kenyans to reject the culture of silence around violence against children and to report suspected abuse or serious threats to the appropriate authorities.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
A WAKE-UP CALL TO KENYA<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The NPA says Flora\u2019s death should become a catalyst for stronger child-protection systems and greater accountability in schools and communities.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
The association has vowed to continue pushing for measures that ensure every child can attend school, learn, grow and return home safely.<\/p>\n
 <\/p>\n
\u201cOur children are not expendable. Their lives matter. Their safety matters. Their future matters.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NPA says the country must now act\u2014not simply mourn.<\/p>\n
