\ngroundbreaking solutions to some of Kenya\u2019s most pressing environmental challenges.<\/p>\n

\nThe funding marks the culmination of the third edition of the Young Environmentalist Innovation
\nChallenge (YEIC), a flagship initiative established by KCDF in 2023 to identify, nurture, and scale
\ninnovative environmental solutions led by young people across Kenya.
\nThe seven winning innovations emerged from a highly competitive pool of more than 700
\napplications submitted from across the country.<\/p>\n

\nconservation, climate resilience, sustainable resource management, and circular economy solutions.
\n\u201cThe solutions we need, for waste, for clean energy, for the trees we have lost, for the soils our
\nfarmers depend on, will only come from people willing to sit at the same table, share resources,
\nshare risk, and share credit. Today we pause to celebrate, to honour Kenya\u2019s young innovators whose
\ningenuity and grit have turned bold ideas into real enterprises tackling waste, energy, agriculture,

\nThis year\u2019s winners are demonstrating how local innovation can deliver practical and scalable
\nsolutions to environmental challenges while creating economic opportunities and livelihoods.
\nThe seven finalists are:
\n\u2022 Twende Green Ecocycle (Mombasa County) \u2013 transforming marine plastic waste into
\ndurable and affordable school furniture.
\n\u2022 Fibertext Green Paper Ltd (Bungoma County) \u2013 converting discarded banana stems and
\nfibres into biodegradable paper packaging.
\n\u2022 Queening Afrika (Nairobi County) \u2013 transforming discarded synthetic hair into handbags,
\nhome d\u00e9cor products, and other eco-friendly items.
\n\u2022 Bio Regen (Murang\u2019a County) \u2013 producing organic ACT probiotic fertiliser to promote
\nsustainable agriculture.
\n\u2022 Ecobora (Kajiado County) \u2013 developing solar cooking technologies to reduce dependence
\non conventional fuels.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Ecobuild (Siaya County) \u2013 converting hazardous mining waste into eco-bricks for affordable
\nhousing.
\n\u2022 Majik Water Technologies (Murang\u2019a County) \u2013 harnessing atmospheric moisture to
\nproduce clean and safe drinking water.
\nCollectively, the innovations address critical environmental concerns, including waste management,
\nsustainable agriculture, water scarcity, access to clean energy, affordable housing, and the transition to a circular economy.
\nDuring the event, KCDF and the I&M Foundation officially launched the next phase of the initiative
\nunder a new identity, the Young Innovators Challenge (YIC). The rebranding reflects an expanded
\nvision that goes beyond environmental conservation to support youth-led innovations addressing a
\nbroader range of social, economic, and development challenges facing Kenya.<\/p>\n
\nfunding, mentorship, networks, and opportunities to scale their ideas into sustainable ventures
\ncapable of delivering measurable community impact.
