{"id":4935,"date":"2026-07-29T18:05:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T18:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livenation254.com\/?p=4935"},"modified":"2026-07-29T18:07:48","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T18:07:48","slug":"npa-urges-police-schools-and-parents-to-protect-learners-during-long-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livenation254.com\/?p=4935","title":{"rendered":"NPA Urges Police, Schools and Parents to Protect Learners During Long Holiday&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>By Jeff Kizzilah Digital Editor\u00a0\r\n\r\nThe National Parents Association (NPA) has called on the Government to strengthen road safety enforcement across the country as thousands of learners travel home for the long school holiday.<\/pre>\n<blockquote><p>The Association urged the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the National Police Service to increase police patrols and establish strategic roadblocks along major highways to curb speeding, reckless overtaking, drunk driving, overloading, and the use of unroadworthy vehicles.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>NPA emphasized that every child has the right to travel safely and reminded schools that transporting learners after 6:00 p.m. is prohibited unless expressly authorized under the law with appropriate safety measures in place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/livenation254.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-5.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4936\" src=\"https:\/\/livenation254.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-5-300x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/livenation254.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-5-300x150.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/livenation254.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-5-768x384.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/livenation254.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/images-5.jpeg 783w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Association also directed schools participating in co-curricular activities, including the National Music Festivals in Bungoma County, to ensure all buses are fully serviced, insured, inspected, and certified roadworthy before carrying learners.<\/p>\n<p>School administrators were further urged to deploy only qualified, medically fit and licensed drivers while ensuring no driver operates a vehicle under fatigue, alcohol or drug influence.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond road safety, the Association appealed to parents and guardians to take advantage of the long holiday by closely supervising their children, guiding their behaviour, monitoring online activities, and protecting them from drug abuse, crime, violence and other harmful influences.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>NPA stressed that discipline begins at home and encouraged parents to instill values such as responsibility, honesty, patriotism and hard work while providing a supportive environment for candidates preparing for national examinations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Association also reminded Boards of Management, school principals and transport coordinators that they owe learners a duty of care and warned that negligence leading to preventable accidents could attract disciplinary, civil or criminal action under Kenyan law.<\/p>\n<p>While commending the Government for investigating recent cases of school unrest and working to improve safety in learning institutions, the National Parents Association maintained that lasting discipline requires active parental involvement.<\/p>\n<p>The Association concluded by wishing all learners, teachers and parents a safe, peaceful and productive holiday, urging every Kenyan to play a role in protecting children both on the roads and at home so that all learners return safely for the Third Term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jeff Kizzilah Digital Editor\u00a0 The National Parents Association (NPA) has called on the Government to strengthen road safety enforcement across the country as thousands&hellip;
