Government Reaffirms Kenya’s Safety, Dismisses Calls Discouraging Tourism<\/p>\n
Government Spokesperson Hon. Isaac Mwaura has strongly dismissed calls by certain political leaders urging tourists to avoid visiting Kenya over alleged security concerns, describing the statements as unpatriotic, misleading, and harmful to the country’s economy.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a media briefing, Hon. Mwaura emphasized that Kenya remains peaceful, stable, and secure, assuring both local and international visitors that the country continues to offer a safe and welcoming environment for tourism, investment, and business.<\/p>\n
He noted that the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security, improve infrastructure, and promote Kenya as a global tourism destination have continued to bear fruit, with international tourist arrivals increasing significantly from 1.48 million to 2.2 million visitors.<\/p>\n
Hon. Mwaura further highlighted the strength of the domestic tourism sector, revealing that 5.2 million domestic tourists have explored various destinations across the country, underscoring growing public confidence in Kenya’s tourism industry.<\/p>\n
“The continued rise in both international and domestic tourist numbers is clear evidence that Kenya remains one of Africa’s most attractive and trusted travel destinations,” Mwaura said.<\/p>\n
He urged leaders to act responsibly and avoid making statements that could undermine investor confidence, damage Kenya’s international reputation, or negatively affect livelihoods that depend on the tourism sector.<\/p>\n
The Government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding all visitors and citizens while working closely with stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industries to sustain the sector’s growth and contribute to national economic development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
