Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has raised serious concerns over the escalating cost and tragic consequences of the Limuru\u2013Mau Summit Road, revealing that the project has now cost Kenyans over KSh 415 billion across two administrations \u2014 those of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto.<\/div>\n

Speaking on the matter, Kioni questioned who will ultimately bear responsibility for what he termed as massive wastage of public funds, poor contracting decisions, and loss of innocent lives.<\/div>\n

According to Kioni, during the Uhuru administration, the government allocated over KSh 150 billion to a French firm to undertake the project. However, the contract was later terminated, forcing Kenyan taxpayers to shoulder an estimated KSh 15 billion in cancellation penalties, despite no tangible value being delivered.<\/div>\n

Under the current administration, Kioni noted that the project was re-awarded, with over KSh 200 billion allocated to a Chinese company. He alleged that the execution of the project led to environmental destruction, including dam breakages that resulted in loss of lives and displacement of communities.<\/div>\n

\u201cThis road has not only drained public resources but has also claimed the lives of Kenyans. The question remains \u2014 who takes responsibility?\u201d Kioni posed.<\/div>\n
The Limuru\u2013Mau Summit Road is a critical transport corridor linking Nairobi, Rift Valley, Nyanza, and Western Kenya, heavily used by Kenyans traveling to their rural homes and for commercial transport. Despite its importance, Kioni lamented that the road has become a symbol of failed planning, corruption, and disregard for human life.<\/div>\n

He called for full transparency, parliamentary scrutiny, and an independent audit to establish how billions were spent, who benefited, and why Kenyans continue to suffer despite repeated investments.<\/div>\n
