After a phase of global and domestic economic strain, the country has entered a decisive stage of stabilisation and acceleration, supported by sound macroeconomic management, targeted reforms, and people-centred investments.

Macroeconomic Stability and Growth

Key economic indicators confirm this stabilisation. Inflation has declined sharply from 9.6 per cent to 4.6 per cent, restoring purchasing power for households. The Kenya Shilling has stabilised against the US Dollar, supported by strong export performance and record diaspora remittances of KSh 660 billion in the last financial year, now Kenya’s leading source of foreign exchange.

Agriculture and Food Security

The Government has shifted policy focus from consumption subsidies to production-led support, delivering tangible gains in food security and farmer incomes. Millions of farmers have benefited from improved access to quality inputs, markets, and extension services, strengthening national food resilience.

Tourism, Sports and Global Engagement

Tourism earnings reached KSh 452 billion in 2024, supporting over three million jobs, with projections of KSh 1.2 trillion in 2025. Kenya is positioning itself as Africa’s premier leisure and MICE destination, anchored by flagship projects such as the Bomas International Convention Centre, which is set to host the France–Africa Summit in 2026. Investments in sports infrastructure and cultural tourism continue to strengthen Kenya’s global brand.

Kenya has also signed six bilateral labour agreements with the UK, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Germany, and Austria. These agreements have resulted in over 452,000 Kenyans securing jobs abroad, up from 14,000 in 2022, across sectors including technical trades, hospitality, and healthcare. Already, 586 nurses have been cleared for overseas employment.

Blue Economy

Expansion of the blue economy is creating new opportunities in fish processing, marketing, and logistics. Investments in fish landing sites and deep-sea fishing training have opened new frontiers for young people. As of 2025, 875 youth have been trained in modern fishing methods, promoting safer and more profitable livelihoods.

Investments, Industry and Special Economic Zones

Employment in Export Processing Zones (EPZs) has increased by 14,000 jobs over the last three years, with four new flagship EPZs under construction expected to create 5,000 additional jobs. Special Economic Zones have generated 11,000 more jobs, while the Kenya Development Corporation continues to spur enterprise growth through targeted lending. County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) are driving rural industrialisation by linking farmers directly to processors and markets.

The National Infrastructure Fund

Dr. Mwaura said Kenya has taken a decisive step toward First World transformation following Cabinet approval of the National Infrastructure Fund, a key pillar of the country’s KSh 5 trillion development roadmap. Established as a limited liability company, the Fund will align public resources with national development priorities while unlocking large-scale private capital for infrastructure investment.

Through the monetisation of mature public assets, ring-fencing of privatisation proceeds, mobilisation of domestic savings, and democratisation of ownership via capital markets, the Government is shifting from debt-led financing to a sustainable, investment-driven model. Resources mobilised through the Fund will be directed strictly to high-impact infrastructure that strengthens food security through modern irrigation, expands transport networks, and supports long-term economic productivity.

By Jeff Kizzilah 2025 GOK SCORECARD: TRANSFORMING LIVES – FROM BOTTOM-UP TO FIRST WORLD Government Spokesperson Dr. Isaac Mwaura/photo Government Spokesperson Dr. Isaac Mwaura has…

[1

post-414","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-county-mews
["GET
