\nODM Deputy Party Leader Oburu Oginga had the privilege of hosting the Chairman of the Uwiano Human Rights Violations and Compensation Panel, Dr. Makau Mutua, together with members of his team, for discussions<\/strong> on Kenya’s journey toward justice, healing, and national reconciliation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nDuring the meeting, the leaders reflected on Kenya’s painful history of violence and human rights violations that have affected countless citizens since independence. Oburu Oginga noted that he personally understands the suffering endured by victims, having himself experienced police violence in Eldoret during some of the country’s most difficult periods.<\/p>\n
“It is because of these shared scars and painful memories that I am profoundly grateful to President William Ruto for taking this bold and historic step to finally address the issue of national reparations,” said Oburu.<\/p>\n
The delegation shared encouraging progress from the compensation programme, announcing that the mother of Baby Pendo has officially received compensation as part of the first phase of disbursements to victims of human rights violations.
\nOburu described the development as a significant milestone in the country’s healing process, saying it offers hope and a measure of closure to families that have waited years for justice and recognition.<\/p>\n
“Healing is happening. The compensation of Baby Pendo’s mother marks a monumental step toward closure and demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that victims are not forgotten,” he said.<\/p>\n
Reaffirming his commitment to the Kenyan people, Oburu pledged to continue advocating for justice and accountability within government.<\/p>\n
“To all Kenyans, I give you my word: I will remain your steadfast and unwavering voice within this government. Your struggles are my struggles, and your justice is our collective peace.”<\/p>\n
