The National Parents Association (NPA) has commended the National Defence College (NDC), Karen, for its generous support towards needy students at Starehe Girls High School, describing the initiative as a powerful demonstration of the impact of partnerships in advancing access to quality education for vulnerable learners.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the support programme facilitated through Juma Mwinyikai, NPA National Chairman Mr. Silas David Obuhatsa expressed the Association\u2019s gratitude to NDC Karen for extending a helping hand to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He noted that education remains one of the most effective tools for social transformation and economic empowerment, and that investing in needy learners creates opportunities that can change lives and strengthen communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cActs of generosity such as this restore hope and inspire learners to pursue their dreams despite financial challenges. The National Defence College has set an example that other institutions and individuals should emulate,\u201d said Mr. Obuhatsa.<\/p>\n

The NPA Chairman called upon corporate organizations, development partners, well-wishers, and individuals of goodwill to join efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable students through donations in cash and kind. He emphasized that collective responsibility is essential in ensuring that no learner is denied an opportunity to access education due to economic hardship.<\/p>\n
Mr. Obuhatsa also reaffirmed the Association\u2019s confidence in the leadership and administration of Starehe Girls High School, citing the institution\u2019s long-standing commitment to supporting learners from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds. He observed that with increased support from donors and partners, the school can further strengthen its mission of providing equitable and quality education while serving as a national model for nurturing vulnerable learners.<\/p>\n
The Association further applauded the school\u2019s Director, Sister Juliet, for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the welfare of students, teachers, parents, and support staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cI lack adequate words to fully describe Sister Jane Soita\u2019s commitment to the learners under her care. Having attended several school functions and meetings at her invitation, I have always felt welcomed and inspired by her passion for education and student welfare. She truly has the students at heart,\u201d said Mr. Obuhatsa.<\/p>\n
NPA also recognized the efforts of teachers and non-teaching staff at the institution, praising their professionalism, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to ensuring students receive quality education and holistic development. The Association noted that the school continues to provide learners with opportunities to excel both academically and through co-curricular activities that nurture talent and character.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the Association encouraged the strengthening of life-skills education programmes to equip learners with practical knowledge, values, and confidence necessary to navigate future challenges and opportunities.<\/p>\n
The National Parents Association reiterated its commitment to promoting partnerships that enhance access, equity, and quality education across the country, urging all stakeholders to support institutions that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
