Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hon. Hassan Ali Joho, has expressed confidence in Kenya’s preparedness to host the 11th edition of the prestigious Our Ocean Conference, scheduled to take place in Mombasa from 16th to 18th June 2026.<\/p>\n
Speaking after an extensive inspection tour of key facilities, including Moi International Airport and the designated conference venues, CS Joho said preparations have entered the final phase, with all stakeholders working around the clock to ensure the success of the historic global event.<\/p>\n
“We are privileged to be hosting the 11th edition of the Our Ocean Conference in our coastal city of Mombasa from the 16th to 18th June. Preparations have entered the final stretch with just a few days to the kick-off of this historic event,” said<\/strong> CS Joho.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nThe Cabinet Secretary noted that the inspection exercise was aimed at assessing the country’s level of readiness and ensuring that all logistical, security, hospitality, and operational arrangements are firmly in place ahead of the arrival of delegates from across the world.<\/p>\n
“Today, I conducted an inspection of several key facilities, including the Moi International Airport and the conference venues, to assess our level of preparedness and ensure that all arrangements are on track,” he added.<\/p>\n
The conference is expected to bring together world leaders, policymakers, scientists, investors, environmental advocates, and maritime stakeholders to discuss critical issues affecting oceans and marine ecosystems. Kenya’s hosting of the event underscores its growing leadership in the Blue Economy and commitment to sustainable ocean governance.<\/p>\n
The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a world-class conference that will not only showcase Kenya’s hospitality and organizational capacity but also strengthen international collaboration in protecting oceans and promoting sustainable economic opportunities linked to marine resources.<\/p>\n
