He warned that the rise in strikes, arson incidents and destruction of school property points to deeper societal challenges that require urgent intervention from parents, educators and community leaders.

According to Mwaura, school unrest is not merely an education issue but a reflection of broader social problems including substance abuse, peer pressure, harmful social media influence and weakening family structures. He called on parents to play a more active role in mentoring their children and helping instill discipline, responsibility and respect.

The government further reassured families affected by the recent tragedy at Utumishi Girls Academy, pledging continued support to survivors, bereaved families and the wider school community. Mwaura said relevant government agencies have been mobilized to provide assistance while investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Addressing concerns about increasing youth violence, the spokesperson called for stronger mentorship programmes and expanded mental health support services. He warned that unresolved social pressures and negative influences are contributing to risky behavior among young people and urged greater investment in guidance and counselling initiatives.

On the Finance Bill, Mwaura cautioned Kenyans against relying on unverified information circulating online. He said misinformation regarding the proposed legislation has the potential to create unnecessary anxiety and confusion, urging citizens to seek information from official government channels and parliamentary records.

He encouraged Kenyans to participate actively in the ongoing public participation process, noting that citizens, businesses and stakeholders still have an opportunity to submit views and influence the final shape of the country’s tax policies.

Among the proposed changes is the removal of VAT on dialysis services, a move expected to reduce treatment costs for thousands of Kenyans battling kidney disease. He also pointed to plans to lower excise duty on bottled water, which could make safe drinking water more affordable for households across the country.

The government is also moving to strengthen regulation of the scrap metal industry in an effort to curb vandalism of critical infrastructure, including electricity equipment, railway facilities, road signs and water installations that have cost taxpayers billions of shillings.

On foreign affairs, Mwaura hailed the outcomes of President ‘s recent State Visit to , saying the trip secured strategic agreements expected to boost trade, investment, education, skills development and cultural cooperation. He noted that Kenyan farmers, manufacturers and exporters stand to benefit from expanded access to South African markets.

The spokesperson also announced that Kenya has heightened Ebola preparedness measures as neighboring countries continue to battle outbreaks. He revealed that more than 77,000 travelers have been screened at border points while 37 individuals remain under quarantine and close monitoring. He assured the public that there are currently no confirmed Ebola cases in Kenya and urged citizens to remain vigilant while adhering to public health advisories.

Looking ahead to the new financial year, Mwaura disclosed that education will continue receiving one of the largest allocations in the national budget. The funding will support teacher recruitment, expansion of learning facilities, implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum and increased access to higher education.

In agriculture, he said billions of shillings have been allocated to fertilizer subsidies aimed at reducing production costs, increasing yields and strengthening national food security. The government has also expanded the number of quality assurance officers in the education sector to improve oversight, accountability and learning outcomes in schools nationwide.

Mwaura maintained that the government’s focus remains on economic growth, quality education, affordable healthcare, food security and the well-being of all Kenyans as the country prepares for the next budget cycle.

By Jeff Kizzilah Digital Editor Government Spokesman has urged Kenyans to closely follow this week’s national budget presentation, describing it as a critical document that…

[30

post-3298","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-updates
["GET
