Health Cabinet Secretary Adan Duale has confirmed that Alupe Sub-County Referral Hospital in Teso South, Busia County, will be repurposed as an Ebola patient holding facility, escalating a heated national debate that has drawn sharp criticism from political leaders and residents in Western Kenya.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the government’s preparedness measures against potential Ebola outbreaks in the region, Duale defended the decision as a necessary public health intervention aimed at protecting Kenyans from the deadly disease. He maintained that the facility would strengthen the country’s emergency response capacity and enhance disease surveillance along the Kenya-Uganda border.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
