The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale, today convened a media briefing at Afya House, Nairobi, to update the nation on Kenya\u2019s preparedness and response following the regional outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) reported in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.<\/p>\n

CS Duale reassured Kenyans that no confirmed Ebola case has been recorded in the country<\/strong>, emphasizing that the Ministry of Health remains fully alert due to increased cross-border movement driven by trade, transport, and travel within the region.<\/p>\n

He noted that the government, through the and the , has activated a series of preventive and response measures aimed at strengthening national preparedness and early detection systems.<\/p>\n

These measures include enhanced surveillance and screening at all points of entry<\/strong>, activation of emergency coordination systems, deployment of rapid response teams, and strengthened collaboration with county governments and international health partners including the and the .<\/p>\n

The CS further confirmed that traveller screening has been intensified, alongside improvements in laboratory capacity, healthcare worker preparedness, isolation facility readiness, and nationwide public awareness campaigns to support rapid identification and containment of any potential cases.<\/p>\n

He urged members of the public to remain calm but vigilant, to strictly follow official public health advisories, avoid spreading misinformation, and to seek immediate medical attention should they experience symptoms\u2014particularly if they have recently travelled to affected regions.<\/p>\n

Hon. Duale reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to safeguarding public health while ensuring that Kenya remains safe, open, and stable for tourism, investment, and international engagement.<\/p>\n
