Macmillan Medical Training College Unveils Afya Bora Scholarship Program and Women in Tech Empowerment Initiative <\/strong>has officially launched the <\/span>Afya Bora Scholarship Program<\/strong> alongside a fully sponsored <\/span>Women in Tech Empowerment Program<\/strong>, marking a major step toward expanding access to education, healthcare training, and digital opportunities for Kenyan youth and women.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Speaking during the launch attended by members of the media, partners, digital publishers, bloggers, content creators, and invited guests, the institution emphasized that the initiative is not merely about education, but about transforming lives and creating opportunities for thousands of young Kenyans facing financial hardship and unemployment.<\/p>\n

The college noted that many students complete secondary education with dreams and potential but are unable to access higher education due to financial barriers. At the same time, Kenya continues to experience shortages in critical healthcare personnel needed to support the country\u2019s growing healthcare system.<\/p>\n

Macmillan Medical Training College reaffirmed its commitment to producing competent, compassionate, innovative, and globally competitive healthcare professionals who can support the country\u2019s healthcare demands under the government\u2019s Universal Health Coverage agenda.<\/p>\n

The institution highlighted that healthcare systems cannot function effectively without trained healthcare assistants, caregivers, emergency responders, community health workers, and digital health support professionals. The college stated that private medical institutions continue to play a critical role in complementing government efforts to strengthen the healthcare workforce.<\/p>\n

During the event, the college also called on the Government of Kenya to expand access to HELB and other education financing opportunities to deserving students enrolled in accredited private colleges and TVET institutions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the institution, educational support should be based on talent, need, and potential rather than the category of institution a student attends.<\/p>\n

\u201cChildren belong to Kenya. Dreams belong to Kenya. Talent belongs to Kenya. Kenya should be a land of limitless opportunities where every young person has a fair chance to realize their potential,\u201d the college stated.<\/p>\n

The newly launched Women in Tech Empowerment Program<\/strong> seeks to address the underrepresentation of women in the digital and innovation sectors by equipping women from ordinary Kenyan families with skills in programming, innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies.<\/p>\n

The institution emphasized that women must not be left behind in the rapidly evolving global digital economy and expressed commitment to ensuring more women participate confidently in the future workforce.<\/p>\n

The programs are also aligned with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Good Health and Well-being.<\/p>\n

Macmillan Medical Training College further challenged stakeholders, policymakers, development partners, and the media to support initiatives that bridge the gap between talent and opportunity for young Kenyans.<\/p>\n

The institution thanked the media fraternity for amplifying stories that inspire hope and encourage youth empowerment across the country.<\/p>\n
