Ruto Unveils Multi-Billion Development Push in Kirinyaga: Housing, Markets, Roads and Health Projects Near Completion<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>President William Samoei Ruto has reaffirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to transforming the country through large-scale development programmes aimed at improving livelihoods, boosting productivity, and creating employment opportunities across counties.<\/p>\n

Speaking after meeting grassroots leaders from Kirinyaga County at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto said the government is steadily rolling out projects designed to strengthen agriculture, expand infrastructure, and improve access to essential services.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are transforming our nation through projects and programmes that improve the lives of our citizens,\u201d President Ruto said.<\/p>\n

In Kirinyaga County, the President highlighted ongoing support to farmers engaged in coffee, tea, avocado, and dairy production, noting that value addition remains key to increasing incomes. He announced that the government will next month deliver 13 milk coolers to the county to preserve raw milk quality, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance earnings for dairy farmers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On housing, the President said the government has invested KSh 15 billion in the construction of 4,000 affordable housing units, with projects in Gichugu and Kirinyaga now ready for handover. He added that the initiative is not only improving living conditions but also creating jobs for thousands of young people.<\/p>\n

In trade infrastructure, President Ruto noted that KSh 1.5 billion has been invested in the construction of 12 modern markets, three of which are already complete. In addition, student hostels accommodating 4,000 university and college learners are currently under construction to support access to education and ease accommodation challenges.<\/p>\n

On healthcare, the President revealed that county health facilities are being equipped with modern medical equipment worth KSh 330 million. He further announced plans to establish a KEMRI research centre in Mwea and the allocation of KSh 200 million for the construction of a Level 4 hospital in the constituency.<\/p>\n

In the energy sector, the government has already connected 19,000 households to electricity in Kirinyaga, with an additional 9,500 households set to be connected in the next financial year.<\/p>\n

On infrastructure, President Ruto confirmed that KSh 6 billion has been allocated for the completion of road projects across the county, aimed at improving transport, market access, and regional connectivity.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
