The National Parents Association (NPA) has expressed its sincere appreciation to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) for the strong and productive partnership it continues to maintain with the Association, noting that the collaboration has significantly enhanced parental engagement in education reforms across the country.<\/p>\n

In a statement, NPA commended KICD for spearheading impactful education dialogues and successfully conducting sensitization forums for parents in Isiolo, Homa Bay, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Kericho, Kajiado, and Busia counties. These initiatives, supported by the Government, have played a critical role in improving public understanding of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework, including its implementation, transition pathways, assessment approaches, and senior school guidelines.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Association further praised the collaborative efforts between KICD and key education stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education Kenya (MoE), Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), and the Centre for Corporate Governance. NPA noted that this teamwork reflects a unified national commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring the successful rollout of curriculum reforms.<\/p>\n

However, NPA highlighted that KICD\u2019s impact could be significantly expanded with increased financial support. The Association pointed out that 16 counties are yet to benefit from the sensitization program due to funding constraints. NPA has therefore called upon development partners and stakeholders to support KICD in extending these critical engagements nationwide, terming it as a vital step toward strengthening parental involvement in education.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that empowering parents with the right information is key to the success of the Competency-Based Education system,\u201d the statement emphasized.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On infrastructure development, NPA acknowledged the Government\u2019s efforts in equipping senior schools with essential facilities such as laboratories, classrooms, dormitories, and other learning resources, noting that these investments are crucial for the effective implementation of the CBE pathway.<\/p>\n

The Association also lauded KICD for ensuring timely development, printing, and distribution of textbooks despite financial challenges affecting payments to suppliers, terming the commitment as commendable.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Additionally, NPA recognized ongoing efforts by the Teachers Service Commission to recruit more educators and urged the Commission to prioritize hiring teachers in specialized subject areas to address existing shortages and enhance curriculum delivery at the senior school level<\/p>\n

NPA further appreciated the continued support and recognition it has received from the Kenya National Examinations Council, reaffirming its role as a key stakeholder in the education sector.<\/p>\n
