Parents Demand Answers After Kenyan Youths Allegedly Forced Into Ukraine War
Families across the country are raising alarm and demanding urgent intervention from the government after claims that several Kenyan youths have been taken abroad and allegedly forced to participate in the ongoing war in Ukraine without the consent of their parents.
The concerned parents say their children left Kenya after being promised job opportunities abroad, only for communication to later reveal that they had been recruited into the conflict. According to the families, the youths were allegedly misled by agents who facilitated their travel under unclear circumstances.
The parents now accuse the government of moving too slowly to address the crisis and are calling on the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs to urgently investigate the matter and secure the safe return of the affected Kenyans.
\u201cWe sent our children to look for a better future, not to fight in a foreign war,\u201d said one distressed parent during a peaceful protest. \u201cThe government must act immediately and tell us where our children are.
Human rights advocates and civil society groups have also joined the families in demanding transparency, calling for a full investigation into possible human trafficking or illegal recruitment networks targeting Kenyan youth seeking opportunities abroad.
The families are now planning peaceful demonstrations and petitioning government officials to intervene diplomatically to ensure the safety and repatriation of the affected individuals.
